The dwelling Ventanas is entirely built with unfired mud bricks (italian: terra cruda) respecting the style of the beginning of the 20th century. In this house-museum a brilliant contemporary salvage has been put in place combining tradition with innovative materials marked by a low environmental impact as: FSC timbers (Forest Stewardship Council to promote responsible management of the world’s forests), wool sheep as insulating material, natural plasters made from sand, clay, water and some kind of organic materials as straw or manure and natural paints with hydrated lime and clay pigments just to mention a few.
In the back side there’s a well conserved mud brick oven for baking bread and cooking local desserts, the porch faces the traditional pebbly courtyard with the vine on pergola framing the solitary lemon tree. Flowers in spring bloom and how not to mention the corner of the aromatic herbs for your cooking adventures. This will be the perfect setting to sip an aperitif, immerse in a beautiful traditional house were time seems having stopped.
